Girona Airport to Lloret de Mar: every option compared (2026)

Direct Sagalés bus, taxi, bus via Girona or rental car: approx. prices, journey times and tips for getting from Girona Airport (GRO) to Lloret de Mar.

Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO) is the natural gateway to Lloret de Mar: about 30 km by road, barely half an hour away. It beats Barcelona-El Prat (around 95 km) hands down if you can find a flight. The bad news: Lloret has no train station, so the last leg is always by road. The good news: there is a cheap direct bus, taxis with fixed fares and a couple of other options. Here they all are, with realistic 2026 prices.

And one honest warning up front, because we get asked every week: at Coast Rent we rent scooters, motorbikes and bikes in Lloret de Mar, but we do NOT pick up at the airport or deliver vehicles there. The right plan is: get to Lloret by bus or taxi (30-40 minutes), and once here, rent a scooter to explore the whole Costa Brava. We explain how at the end of this article.

Option 1 — Direct bus: Sagalés line 613 (the popular one)

The most popular and cheapest way. Moventis Sagalés runs line 613 Girona Airport – Lloret de Mar: a direct coach that takes about 35 minutes and drops you at Lloret bus station, a 10-15 minute walk from most central hotels.

A ticket costs approximately €12 one-way and around €24 return (approx. 2026 prices — confirm on sagales.com before travelling). You can buy online, at the ticket desk or directly from the driver, by card or cash. The coaches are modern, with luggage hold and wifi.

Important: timetables are tied to flight arrivals and departures — it is not a fixed-frequency line. On busy flight days there are several services; on quiet days, few. Always check the timetable for your specific flight date on the Sagalés website.

  • Pros: cheapest per person, direct with no changes, stop right outside the terminal.
  • Pros: drops you at Lloret bus station, close to the centre.
  • Cons: timetable tied to flights — a long flight delay can mean missing the bus.
  • Cons: in peak season it can fill up; when several charters land at once there are queues.
Tip: if your return flight also leaves from Girona, buy a return ticket (~€24 approx.) on arrival. You save a little and skip the ticket queue on the way back.

Option 2 — Taxi or private transfer

The official taxi rank outside the terminal is staffed whenever flights arrive. The ride to Lloret de Mar is about 30 km and takes around 30 minutes. Most companies use a fixed fare for this route: expect roughly €55–80 per car (not per person), depending on company, time and day. Night-time and holiday surcharges may apply.

You can also pre-book a private transfer online: a driver waits for you in arrivals with a name sign. It usually costs the same or slightly more than a rank taxi, but removes all uncertainty if you land in the small hours.

  • Pros: door to door to your hotel, available 24 h, no waiting.
  • Pros: with 3-4 people and luggage, the per-head price gets close to the bus.
  • Cons: for 1-2 people it is the expensive option (4-6 times the bus fare).
Tip: confirm the fixed price with the driver BEFORE setting off. Girona Airport → Lloret is a standard fare every driver knows; if you are told "whatever the meter says", ask the next taxi in the rank.

Option 3 — Bus via Girona city (slowest, with a bonus)

If the direct bus does not fit your schedule, there is a plan B: Sagalés line 607 connects the airport with Girona city bus station in about 20-25 minutes for roughly €2.80, departing approximately every hour. From Girona station, regular Moventis Sagalés buses run to Lloret de Mar (about 40 more minutes, approx. €5-8).

Total: around €8-11 and between one hour and ninety minutes including the change. When does it make sense? If your flight lands in a gap with no direct bus — or, the nice version, if you want to wander Girona's Barri Vell, see the cathedral and grab lunch before heading to the beach. Girona city is well worth the stop.

Tip: if you land early and are in no hurry, drop your bag in a locker at Girona bus station and give the old town 2-3 hours. Then bus to Lloret — and the next day you can ride back to Girona... by scooter (40 km, ~30 min).

What about the train? There isn't one (really)

Lloret de Mar has no train station. The nearest is Blanes on the R1 Rodalies line, and even that one sits several kilometres outside Blanes town centre — there is no train combination from Girona Airport that makes any sense. If a journey planner shows you a "train to Lloret", be suspicious: it always ends in a bus. Walking or cycling with luggage is not an option either: it is 30 km with stretches of main road never designed for pedestrians.

Option 4 — Rental car at the airport

The Girona terminal has desks for the usual car rental companies. Prices swing wildly with the season: from roughly €25-40/day in low season to considerably more in August, plus fuel and — careful — security deposits that usually require a credit card.

Our honest take as a local business: if you plan to tour all of Catalonia, a car makes sense. But if you are staying in Lloret and the Costa Brava, you will barely use it, and parking in Lloret in summer is an extreme sport — blue and green zones fill up and many hotels charge extra for parking. For the coves and coastal towns, a scooter parks where a car cannot and burns a fraction of the fuel.

Practical tips for the journey

  • Check the 613 bus timetable for YOUR specific flight on sagales.com — schedules change with each season's flight programme.
  • Night flight: the bus only runs while flights are scheduled. If you land in the small hours or with a big delay, plan on a taxi (€55-80 approx.) or pre-book a transfer.
  • Luggage: the 613 has a luggage hold at no extra cost. For taxis, mention it if you have 4 large suitcases so they send a suitable vehicle.
  • Cash: bus and taxi almost always take cards, but €20-30 in cash saves you from surprises.
  • Lloret bus station is a 10-15 minute walk from the seafront; with heavy luggage there are usually taxis at the station itself.
Tip: screenshot the return bus timetable on the day you arrive. On departure day, in a hurry, you will be glad you did.

Once in Lloret: explore the Costa Brava by scooter

Getting to Lloret is the easy part. The real question is how you move around afterwards, because the best of the Costa Brava — Tossa de Mar, the coves along the GI-682, Blanes, Girona itself — is not next to your hotel. Local buses exist but tie you to timetables, and they simply do not reach the good coves. That is why most of our customers do exactly this: arrive from the airport by bus, drop the bags, and rent a scooter for the rest of the stay.

To be completely clear: we do not pick anyone up at the airport and we do not deliver vehicles there. Our shop is in Lloret de Mar, at Rambla de Roma Barnés 16, open 09:00 to 21:00. First you get to Lloret; the rental starts here.

Our 2026 fleet, with daily prices by season (high season runs 1 June to 15 September):

  • Kymco Sky Town 125 — comfortable, agile 125cc scooter: €50–60/day, €150 deposit.
  • MITT URBAN 125cc — the most affordable scooter in the fleet: €45–55/day, €120 deposit.
  • Motron X-Nord 125cc — a 125 trail bike, perfect for coastal roads: €75–85/day, €150 deposit.
  • CF Moto 650 MT — 650cc for A-licence holders who want serious touring: €105–115/day, €300 deposit.
  • Bicycle — for getting around Lloret and Fenals: €15–20/day, €50 deposit.

Clear conditions: book online with no card and no upfront payment; the deposit is left at pickup and returned when you bring the vehicle back; free cancellation up to 24 hours before; helmet and third-party insurance included in the price. And the fact that surprises many tourists: a standard B car licence (held 3+ years) lets you ride a 125cc in Spain — non-EU licences additionally need an International Driving Permit (IDP).

The distances from Lloret speak for themselves: Tossa de Mar 15 km away (25 minutes along Spain's most beautiful coastal road), Blanes 12 km (15 minutes), Girona city 40 km (30 minutes). On a scooter, the very airport you arrived from is half an hour away — but now with no suitcases and the whole Costa Brava ahead of you.

Tip: in July and August scooters sell out. Book online before you even land — no card needed and free cancellation up to 24 h, so you lose nothing if plans change.

Is there a direct bus from Girona Airport to Lloret de Mar?

Yes. Moventis Sagalés line 613 connects the airport directly with Lloret bus station in about 35 minutes, for approximately €12 one-way (~€24 return). Timetables are tied to flights: check sagales.com for your specific date.

How much is a taxi from Girona Airport to Lloret?

Approximately €55–80 per car (not per person), as a fixed fare depending on company, time and day. The ride is about 30 km and takes around 30 minutes. Night-time or holiday surcharges may apply.

Can you walk or take a train from the airport to Lloret?

No. It is 30 km by road with no pedestrian route, and Lloret de Mar has no train station (the nearest is Blanes, with no useful connection from the airport). The realistic options are bus, taxi or rental car.

Is Girona or Barcelona-El Prat better for reaching Lloret?

If there is a flight, Girona wins easily: 30 km and a ~35-minute bus versus ~95 km from El Prat (1.5 to 2 hours on the direct Barcelona bus, and pricier). El Prat only pays off if the flight itself is clearly better in price or schedule.

Can I rent a motorbike or scooter at Girona Airport itself?

In practice, no: Girona Airport has car rental desks, but there is no meaningful tourist scooter or motorbike rental at the airport. What everyone does is reach Lloret by bus or taxi and rent there. Coast Rent does not pick up at the airport: pickup is at our shop in Lloret (Rambla de Roma Barnés 16).

What if my flight lands in the middle of the night?

The 613 bus only operates around scheduled flights; after a late-night landing or a big delay there will most likely be no bus. Pre-book a private transfer or take a taxi from the official rank (€55-80 approx.). Do not plan on waiting for the first morning bus.
